For many of us, Rabea Massaad has become a very familiar part of our guitar lives. A prominent face online, Rabea has built up a huge fanbase who love his skills, passion for sound and amiable personality. Rabea is a go-to player and personality for a number of online channels (not least his own!) but he’s far more than a good example of a ‘YouTube guitarist’: he’s out there gigging, recording and playing festivals with a number of artists, releasing tab books of his own music and, as of recently, joining the hallowed ranks of Ernie Ball Music Man as an endorsee with his own signature guitar!
I’d never had the chance to chat to Rabea, so the advent of this new guitar seemed like as good an opportunity as any to make a connection. One slightly rainy afternoon, he joined me on a Zoom call to discuss the new guitar, his best playing practices, and the secret of awesome tone.
