Sterling by Music Man is a great range of affordable imported guitars based on some of the most popular Music Man designs like the Luke, the StingRay and the St Vincent. The same design ethos remains in this more wallet-friendly range and the playability, feel and sound is still simply incredible for any price point. Maroon 5’s James Valentine now enjoys an affordable take on his signature guitar via the Sterling line. The unique shape remains, as does his preferred pickup configuration of bridge single coil and neck humbucker. The oversized headstock is here too, making this a very faithful adaptation of the US model.
The slab body is made with Swamp Ash and the neck is Roasted Maple, fitted to the body with the customary 5 bolts. This model is finished in Buttermilk.
This is an extremely comfortable guitar to play: those fantastic Music Man neck dimensions have translated well over into these imported models. a 9.5” radius for the fingerboard will please everyone and the narrow frets have a pleasingly vintage feel.
As we mentioned, this Valentine guitar has a single coil pickup at the bridge (nestled in a humbucker’s housing) and a coil-tappable humbucker at the neck. For any styles that require vintage, classic tone, these will be more than sufficient.
We welcome this Sterling James Valentine signature as a fresh design that excels in versatility and offers something a little different for the gigging guitarist.
