What makes a good electric guitar?

An electric guitar is good when it feels and looks good to you. Keep in mind what you enjoy listening to and the styles of music that you will spend most of your time playing. What do your favourite artists play? Once you find something you like, have a play, see how it feels in your hands and listen to the different tones you can get from it. What is the best electric guitar to learn on?

How much does a decent electric guitar cost?

Is electric guitar easier to play than acoustic?

Short answer, no. Neither is easier or more difficult than the other. The key here is to play the instrument you are most passionate about. This will motivate you to keep practicing - and practice makes perfect!

Fender and Gibson are the two most iconic and enduring brands, and have a wide range of models suitable for any genre. The 'best' brand is definitely a personal preference which you will find on your guitar journey by playing lots of guitars.

Can you play an electric guitar without an amp?

Yes, it can be a good way to practice without being loud, but you won't get the full joy of electric guitar without an amp! An amp will allow you to play at volume, add distortion, use effects pedals and hear how your pickups sound.
