Micheal Schenker is a man who hardly needs an introduction. The Teutonic rocker and star of bands like UFO, the Scorpions and the Michael Schenker Group has been influencing other influential artists for multiple decades with his incredible musicality, ability and sense of melody, not to mention his knack for writing one or two all-time classic riffs as they fly out of his Black & White Flying V!
He has a new album out in early February and we were lucky enough to get an audience with the man himself to find out the inside scoop. When genuine rock legends take an hour out of their busy promotional schedule to talk about guitars, touring, riffs and the music biz, we know better than to take that lightly!
Michael was in London and we spoke via live stream from Glasgow. He revealed himself to be in rare form: he was excellent company, full of charm and charisma, especially considering he’d hardly slept the night before! We got some great stories about recording and touring, all in the inimitable Schenker way! It was a particular honour to talk with a musician that so many rock fans hold dear to their hearts.
