It’s finally happening! Two titans of the electric guitar, touring together and hitting the UK next Summer!
Joe Satriani and Steve Vai - easily two of the greatest & most influential guitar talents in the world - have of course enjoyed a friendship that has spanned nearly half a century, but this is the first time they’ve actually formed a group - the SATCHVAI Band - to tour!
The pair toured together in the states last year, but never have they billed themselves as a band like this! Fans are already beginning to speculate on just what to expect when these legends arrive in the UK next summer, starting at York on June 13th and taking in dates in London, Glasgow, Wolverhampton and Manchester.
The tour - named Surfing with the Hydra - will then head across to Europe for most of July.
Here’s what each star has to say of this exciting new endeavour. Joe first:
“The SATCHVAI Band Tour is happening! I’m so looking forward to sharing the stage with Steve again. Every time we play together, it takes me back to when we were teenagers, eating and breathing music every second of the day, pushing, challenging, and helping each other to be the best we could be. I guess we’ve never stopped!”
And here’s Steve:
“Touring with Joe is always a pleasure and an honor. He is my favorite guitarist to jam with, and now we have another opportunity to take it to the stage. I feel as though we are both at the top of our game, and the show will be a powerful celebration of the coolest instrument in the world, the electric guitar!”
Vai’s not wrong, either. Satch has been touring all year with Sammy Hagar playing classic Van Halen, and Steve’s been smashing it with BEAT, the King Crimson celebration that includes Adrian Belew, Tony Levin and Tool drummer Danny Carey.
The sparks will be flying for them both!
