What we say:

Slipknot's Jim Root has a habit of making rather iconoclastic choices with his range of signature Fender guitars. Despite playing ferociously heavy metal, Jim routinely chooses traditional guitars like Strats and Teles for his main arsenal, albeit having each one modded for extreme power.

This newest addition to the collection is a flat black Jazzmaster with Root's now-familiar austere sensibilities: a single volume control and pickup selector, everything else gone, including the pickguard. The pickups are Jim's favourite EMG's: an 81 and a 60. Everything on this guitar apart from the pickup covers is blacker than a starless night. The (black) tuners are locking models and the (very dark) ebony fretboard has jumbo frets and a pleasing compound radius of 12 to 16". It's built for monster gain tones and crushing heaviness. It's a Jazzmaster in name only: sonically it's from a far louder place.

Overall Rating 5 (4 reviews)

I just love it. The sound is excellent, the finish is beautiful all stripped down and clear lines. The neck profile and satin finish makes it so easy to play and the locking tuners are great.

That guitar is a killer for heavy tones and surprisingly good for more vintage tones too.The goody bag that come within the case is brilliant too.If you want to thrash in style that guitar is definitely for you! Also on a lighter note it's dead heavy and has plenty of sustain !
