New Arrivals: Limited Edition '65 Fender Princeton Reverb

Published on 05/06/2018 12:00

Nothing short of legendary among guitarists, Fender's Princeton amps have been favourites of rock royalty for as long as even our older staff members would care to remember. Known for a sparkling, crystal clear clean sound that's truly Fender through and through, these amps are about as iconic as they come and the fact that they're still so coveted and well regarded is a testament to not only their quality but also to how great the various reissues have sounded over the years. Now, we have a bit of a soft spot for Fender amps at the best of times but with glassy clean tones and enchantingly rich sounding reverb, Princeton's have always been among our very favourites to plug into.

So, as you can imagine, when we heard that a brand new model was being added to the range we started to get VERY excited... Especially when we saw that not only did it boast some really impressive upgrades, it also looked absolutely incredible. Continuing an already unbelievable legacy, the latest member of the family is the Limited Edition '65 Princeton Reverb. Easily one of the most stylish we've seen to date, the first thing you'll notice is a stunning Fawn coloured Textured Vinyl finish which compliments the vintage vibe that the Princeton has always brought in spades. Also sporting Vintage Cream Radio control knobs and an Orange amp jewel, this is an incredibly slick looking beast that really feels like it could've been plucked out of a 60's studio!

However, we're pleased to report that Fender's upgrades have for the most part, not just been aesthetic ones. Perhaps most notably, the latest Princeton features a 12” 8-ohm Celestion® G12M Greenback to reproduce and complement its famous long-spring Reverb and Vibrato. These are seriously powerful and great sounding speakers that are the perfect addition to these amps and we truly cannot wait to hear the dreamy ambient tones we can conjure up through them! This Princeton is powered by a single 12AT7 and a trio of 12AX7 preamp tubes, while also employing dual 6V6 power tubes and a 5AR4 rectifier tube to ensure that you're left with just the right amount of natural tube compression without sacrificing how responsive and sensitive it is. In terms of controls, it's a familiar setup with Volume, Treble, Bass, Reverb, Speed, Intensity accessible from the front panel along with an included 2 button footswitch and 2 inputs. Basically, all of the things you loved about previous models are very much still intact, they've just been tweaked to sound even better and feel even more responsive than ever before!

Bringing that unmistakable Fender tube sound, this Limited Edition model is the type of amp that fans of classic Princeton models will truly go nuts for. Perfectly straddling the line between style and substance, this is a fantastic addition to the series and we cannot wait to let you hear just how great it sounds, we're preparing ourselves to be absolutely blown away!
