What we say:

At A Glance:

The Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s model is yet another fantastic guitar from Gibson's Original Collection. Bringing to the table an alternative to the '50s Les Paul Standard, this '60s version comes with a slimmer neck profile and swaps the pickups for a sound subtly different to that of the '50s Standard.

The body of this model has zero weight relief, a bonus for Les Paul aficionados, some who believe the drill holes used by Gibson to remove the heft of a solid mahogany body, take with them some of the tone. Gibson have listened to those who are after a 'full fat' Les Paul, and have delivered exactly that.

Features We Love:

Full Fat Les Paul

A point of contention, some believe that the chambered body of newer Les Pauls can have a thinner tone than what you would expect to get from a Les Paul. This model has none of that! This mahogany body has zero weight relief giving you the 'full fat' Les Paul tone so many desire. But make sure your shoulder is ready for the heft!

Slim Taper Neck Profile

The neck profile of a guitar is greatly important to how it feels when playing. The Slim Taper shape on this model offers comfort for the player and gives access to the higher frets allowing you to reach all the way to the top of the fretboard when you're rocking out! However, this is a Gibson after all, although named 'Slim Taper' there is still plenty to grab on to.

60s Burstbucker Pickups

Differing from the '50s Standard Les Paul, the 60s Burstbucker pickups selected for this model offer a little more heat and sizzle. With this guitar you'll be suited to playing Blues, Crunchy Rock, and great sustained leads. It sounds wonderful!

Highlights:

  • Zero weight relief, giving the 'full fat' Les Paul tone
  • The Slim Taper neck feels great and will have you playing all night long!
  • 60s Burstbucker pickups offer blazing tones and sustain for days!

Solid, well-constructed guitar which played well out of the box.

Great product and the staff in newcastle really helped and went the extra mile.

Antony R. - 30/7/2023

Always wanted a Les Paul, better than I could have ever imagined.

Stuart W. - 27/6/2023

Absolutely flawless guitar. Finely crafted nut, immaculately finished binding, beautifully coloured and finished. Setup is perfect with very low action and no buzz. Sound is as expected with full range of Les Paul tone. Thin neck with medium frets make it extremely playable. This is the finest guitar I have owned and I’ve had many. Very high quality case also.

David M. - 18/6/2023

Very happy with purchase and sounds better than in the shop as I didn't want to turn the amp up too loud :) Looks amazing and a joy to play.

Peter S. - 26/5/2023

Gibson back to its origins. Fabulous guitar. I have several, but I have not had a Les Paul 60s Standard. The sound is only something that a Gibson could make imo. I'm still getting used to it. Quality. I honestly don't know where the time goes when playing this. A joy. I'm waxing lyrical here, but if you've never owned a Standard, it's well worth finding the extra bucks because its an investment into your music and how you play. I love all my guitars, but every time I open the case to this one, I still feel excited about playing it.

Peter H. - 4/5/2023

A great guitar Gibson as they used to be. Able to chose from several, weight difference finish etc.

Simon W. - 10/3/2023

Absolutely faultless guitar. The best Les Paul.

It’s a Gibson Les Paul need I say more?

Joe W. - 25/9/2022

Renato R. - 30/8/2022

Playability and sound is out of this world. They are inconsistent and each guitar of the same model is different in weight and neck feel. This means I couldn’t get the burst colour I originally wanted. Like wands, the guitar chooses the player and once you get the right one it does feel like the rolls Royce of guitars. Very happy with it.

Luis B. - 31/7/2022

jacqueline R. - 27/7/2022

The best brand new guitar I’ve probably ever bought.

Adam L. - 18/7/2022

William R. - 25/1/2022

A fabulous guitar, which I enjoy playing.

iain t. - 23/11/2021

A truly great tone from the solid body. Nice action/profile and all the bits of a les paul. No push pull knobs on this standard.

Alex E. - 20/9/2021

Quality product, fantastic sound

Ian R. - 30/6/2021

Stunning guitar to play and look at. Very happy with my purchase

Paul W. - 23/3/2021

Fantastic quality and playability. Great purchase

Paul W. - 17/3/2021

I've had multiple guitars in the past; Strats, Flying Vs + I've tried SGs, Jacksons, etc - but Les Paul 60s remain the most comfortable shape and neck by far. The guitar fits so well on me that I love how I can literally "feel" the resonance of the strings when I play. The sound is absolutely incredible for the genres I play (heavy metal, thrash, powerl) Also worth mentioning particular LP is a stunner to look at - photos don't give it justice. The colour is a masterpiece. Only downside is that here are some liiiiitle tiny details in finishing quality that seem a bit off - apparently that has been the case for the past years with all Gibsons.

Ioannis P. - 22/2/2021

Great guitar, plays perfectly and every bit as good as the photos

ian j. - 18/2/2021

Beautiful guitar with great action

Katya F. - 16/12/2020

I've been over this guitar with a fine tooth comb and really can't find any issues (well done Gibson). It's always a worry spending this much without seeing the instrument first, but thankfully all was well. The setup was superb right out of the case... the action is low, but without a hint of fret buzz. Even the tuning stability is impressive for a Les Paul. The only thing I'd say is the photo on the GuitarGuitar website did not do the top justice!

Adam H. - 15/12/2020

GuitarGuitar was the only company in the U.K. to stock the Gibson Les Paul Standard !!!

Bryan K. - 9/12/2020
