The Gibson 1959 EB-0 is a fine piece of bass history. Produced in 1959 as a response to the declining popularity of the Gibson EB-1, the EB-0 proved a popular alternative, and found itself into the arsenal of legends like Dennis Dunaway, Mike Watt and Ronnie James Dio.

Condition Report

At guitarguitar, we award our used gear a grade from 1-5 according to its overall condition, with 5 being the best.

This item was appraised as follows:

Body: 4 out of 5 - Item shows some mild and/or minor signs of use such as superficial swirling or hazing to the finish. There are no substantial dings, dents or scuffs which break the finish

Neck: 4 out of 5 - The frets are in good order and the instrument plays cleanly and intonates accurately across the fingerboard.

Additional Information: Considering this beautiful bass is over sixty years old, it's in fantastic condition and really is a pleasure to play.

The original cherry finish has faded, but only slightly and still retains the red hue that often disappears over the years. There's heavy play wear over the whole body, most noticeably around the edges, were the finish has been worn through to the wood below.

There is numerous dings, scrapes and scratches present, but nothing the effects playability in any way at all.

The neck is nicely worn in and the frets are in very good condition with lots of height left in them and only very minor pitting on the lower ones. The headstock displays some chipping to the edges, but the banjo-style machine heads work perfectly and hold tuning with no issues at all.

Other than the straplocks, all hardware and electrics are original.

This guitar has been restrung with D'Addario strings.

Accessories Included with this item are as follows: Hard Case
