Justin Meldal-Johnsen is a face you're sure to recognise if you're an alternative music fan. Appearing on tours as a bassist with bands like Nine Inch Nails, Beck and M83, his background is about as varied as they come; also producing music for artists such as Jimmy Eat World and Paramour. Favouring a Fender Mustang as his bass of choice, Justin is spotted with his prized 1967 Daphne Blue more than any other instrument.

Giving fans their own take on Justin's iconic bass, Fender have recreated his weapon of choice in the form of a Mexican made, Road Worn model. This limited edition JMJ Mustang Bass has the expected 30” scale but updates the fingerboard radius to a more modern player-friendly 9.5”. The edges of the fingerboard are also rolled off to help create a comfortable, played in feel. Along with this, there’s a custom wound split-coil pickup and a convincing Road Worn finish in Justin’s favoured Daphne Blue. Perfect for that alternative sound and vibe, this is a seriously cool character that was made to be played!
